The Project
The leader of this group effort was Richard Petrone, a longtime Jupiter observer. He was a member of both clubs and organized the observing sessions collecting of data and drawing of the strip charts. All drawings were made with moderate size telescopes in a period of not more than 15 minutes. In most cases the drawings were made with the same scope. All drawings were made from the same location. The purpose was to have a continuous collection of Jupiter sketches before and after the Shoemaker-Levy 9 impact.
