Checklist

The main points to remember when buying a telescope are :
- The diameter of the main lens or mirror is the most important feature. The larger the size, the more light the telescope can collect and focus into the final image.
- The telescope should have a good sturdy mount.
- The magnification of a telescope is determined by the eyepiece. A range of 30x to 120x covers the most useful magnifications.
- Choose a scope with 1.25" eyepieces over one with .965" eyepieces.
- A 6x30 or larger finder is desirable.
- Join an astronomy club and talk to people who are knowledgeable about telescopes.
