General Meeting for November 11th 2016
Almost every day someone enters the store asking how to pick out a telescope and then how to use one. Experienced observers seem to struggle as well. Here are some tips on how to make your observing session fun and productive.
Brian Dernesch
I have been an amateur astronomer for as long as I can remember and had to earn enough money to buy my first telescope – a Tasco 60mm refractor on a not so sturdy AltAz mount. That telescope did me well for over ten years but today it is the kind of telescope I talk people out of buying. I also own a telescope store and try my hardest to keep that quality of scope out of my shop.

Brian I bought a used Bushnell telescope as I’m. New.to this hobby I’m having a few issues not sure if it’s me or the scope. I see it said you have a store any way I could stop by and pick. Your brain regarding this issue
Hello Neil,
The HAA is holding a Scope Clinic/Open House on the 19th of November… this Saturday … at the Spectator Building in Hamilton. The event is open to the public, free of charge, from 1 to 4 PM.
It is a perfect opportunity to meet other astronomers and discuss the issues you are having with your scope. Bring it along with you if you are able.
