March Members Meeting

Join us on Friday March 14 for our monthly meeting.  Doors open at 7:00 pm and the meeting will begin as usual at 7:30 pm.

Our guest speaker this month is Dr. Shohini Ghose, and she will be speaking to us about “Her Space, Her Time: How Trailblazing Women Scientists Decoded the Hidden Universe”. 

From the Big Bang to dark matter, women have been involved  in the most groundbreaking discoveries about the cosmos. This talk will share the inspiring stories of these long-overlooked scientists who not only transformed our understanding of the universe, but also reshaped the rules of society.

January Members Meeting

Join us this Friday January 10th, 2025 for our members meeting at 7:30 pm in the Parish Hall at St. Matthew’s-on-the-Plains Anglican Church, 126 Plains Road E. Burlington. This month’s presentation will feature Dr. Michael Richer who will share information about the National Telescope of Mexico and the research that is done at that facility.  Dr. Richer will be joining us through Zoom.  

Our Observing Director, Kevin Salwach will be sharing tips on what’s up in the night sky for the next month.  If you want more information about what to observe in the winter sky, check out Kevin’s article in the January Event Horizon.

September Members Meeting

We would like to invite all members to the first meeting of the new season on Friday September 13, 2024.  The doors will open around 7:00 pm and the meeting will begin at 7:30 pm.

The guest speaker for Friday September 13 is Brian Michel from 10 Telescopes in Guelph.  Brian will be speaking about how he prints 3-D telescopes and then distributes them for free to people and organizations in the Guelph area.    He will be joining us in person.

The HAA’s Observing Director, Matthew Mannering will be sharing astronomy news and observing tips in his Sky this Month presentation.
