Join us this Friday, October 13th for our AGM, and as we welcome Brother Guy Consolmagno, Director of the Vatican Observatory joining us via ZOOM. Br. Guy’s topic for the evening will be “What’s Surfacing About Bennu?”.
The recent NASA mission to asteroid Bennu, OSIRIS-REx, which is bringing back samples gathered on its surface, discovered a surface that, on the surface, doesn’t make sense: it’s covered with boulders, but it absorbs heat like a powder. What’s going on and how did it get that way? Our measurements of the most likely analog meteorite type, CM carbonaceous chondrites, suggests a surprising answer.

Matthew will be offering advice on regular and not-so-regular maintenance of your equipment. Speaking about telescope maintenance, he may touch upon cleaning optics, collimation of scopes, and all kinds of suggestions to keep your equipment running smoothly… Bring your notepads for this one!!

Our spring Scope Clinic is scheduled to be held at the McMaster Innovation Park facility on Saturday, February 18th, 2023. Doors are open to the public and members from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Admission is free but as always, we are happy to accept donations for the food bank.
