The azimuth for today’s Moonrise is 75 degrees: that is, 15 degrees North of Due East. You will be able to see it from Hamilton and Burlington out over lake Ontario. Bring your compass and you will catch it as it first peeks up. At 98.9 percent full, it’s already pretty super.
When it crosses the meridian tonight around midnight, it will appear, actually, a little larger than you would see it tomorrow when it’s ‘officially’ full at 8:52 AM, (unfortunately, it will have set by then) because of the shape of the earth. At midnight we are closer to the moon than the center of the earth is. Here’s an article that talks about it. Do you see the difference? Would you notice it if it was not suggested to you?
