There is a major solar storm happening now that could produce strong auroral displays. If skies clear, look up tonight or tomorrow night. For current info on aurorae (Northern Lights), check out this website.
According to my iPhone the aurora was pretty strong but I was watching clouds and lightning on the 22nd instead. With beautiful clear skies tonight (23rd) I made a second attempt and there is a definite increase in sky glow on an unobstructed northern horizon. Unfortunately at 10:30pm an increased glow is all I could see and I couldn’t pick-up any colour through long exposure.
