Join us this December 14th 2018 at 7:30pm – Admission is free and everyone is welcome!

Our topic for this evening will be an overview of astronomy in light-polluted areas using video-assisted observing or for public outreach.  There will also be a Christmas Social during the extended meeting break to allow members and guests to mingle over coffee and treats.

Our speaker this evening will be Francois van Heerden

Francois van Heerden is a life member of the Toronto Centre, RASC and has been an avid amateur astronomer doing public outreach for more than 4 decades. The evolution of astro-video has made his task much easier; his purchase of a Mallincam took it to a new level. Francois will give some insight into what he has been able to accomplish with his astro-video cameras.

April says:

Is this December 14 meeting to view anything outside?

    John Gauvreau says:

    Hi April,
This event will be indoors, where it’s warm and comfortable. Unfortunately we have no way of knowing what the weather will be like on that night other than we can be pretty sure it will be cold, so there is no outside observing planned. However, we still have a full evening planned and are confident that it will be an educational and enjoyable event! Hope you can make it.
p.s. Our public observing nights will resume in March when it will be a little warmer out.
